Weapons and explosives of suspected rebels, seized in Sorsogon

Weapons and explosives exposed the soldiers and police after the operation in Barangay Bulala, Magallanes, Sorsogon, at 5 am, this Thursday, September 8.

According to Lt. Col. Nelson B Mico, Commanding Officer of the 22nd Infantry Battalion (22IB), launched the operation after a report was submitted to the authorities by some residents about hidden weapons in a coprah.

Here three M16 rifles, one KG9, three anti-personnel mines, ammunition, and other propaganda equipment were exposed to the authorities.

According to those who reported, they heard about the incident of providing information by the residents of barangay Calmayon in Juban the past few days, so they also had the courage to point out the hidden weapons of the rebels.

According to Major General Alex Luna, Commander of the 9th Infantry (SPEAR) Division and Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) the Bicolanos are becoming more aware of their responsibility and importance in the government's campaign against insurgency.

"We are once again grateful for the unceasing cooperation of the people of Bicolano. This is just a testimony that the people don't want and are fed up with what the terrorist groups are doing. We are hoping that the remaining members of CTG who are making trouble on the mountain will be made aware, that they are being supported by the people. We hope that through this, more people will come down the mountain to voluntarily surrender and change their lives in the coming days," said MGen. Luna

Just this past week, September 4, apart from the caliber weapons and explosives that were seized in the town of Juban in Sorsogon, two suspected rebel members also voluntarily surrendered, carrying their weapons.
